Participants are required to meet the following expectations:

Participation Expectations

Rate all students in participating schools three times per year using the DESSA-mini and DESSA conditional assessment for students who score as Need for Instruction on the DESSA-mini.

If using the DESSA-HSE SSR in addition to the DESSA or on its own, all students schoolwide will complete a self-assessment three times per year. If using along with the DESSA-HSE, the same rating windows will be used.

Respond to two Implementation Surveys in the fall and spring (district and school SEL leaders).

Participate in two Success Check-Ins with Aperture to reflect on implementation highlights and challenges and share participation experiences with other participating districts.

Share student-level data with the state; this data is protected in the same manner as Connecticut’s SBAC and SAT data to aid in identifying and providing specific supports and resources to the participating districts. The CSDE’s statewide contract includes all requisite data privacy protections for districts to use the platform; no separate district-level contract is necessary

Support Portal offers a variety of resources and information that may be helpful during the implementation process. The following are some key resources to help you get started.
Getting Started
Training

Program Administrators, Site Leaders, and Educators should complete training in the Aperture System Academy before the first rating period. Log in to the Aperture System and click Academy to find the appropriate training for your needs.  Best practice is for district and school leaders to complete training before educators in order to provide support to educators as they begin to learn about the system.
