Maximizing Our Impact: The Landscape of Well-Being Screening in Illinois

Webinar Overview:

In light of recommendations from various Illinois state organizations and the recent Wellness Checks in Schools Program Act, we reviewed what options districts and school administrators have that aim to identify emotional and behavioral health concerns proactively. In this session, takeaways included:

  • Reviewing national and state landscape of mental well-being​
  • Exploring and unraveling the complexities of implementing universal screenings to support student well-being​
  • Learning practical strategies for implementing universal screenings efficiently and empathetically

About the Presenters

Lisa Micou, Ph.D. has championed students’ social-emotional needs as the Intervention & Training Specialist for Social Emotional Learning in a large division in VA. She was also a school psychologist at both the elementary and high school levels in suburban Chicago and VA. She has cultivated expertise in multi-tiered systems of support, problem-solving and progress monitoring, and social, emotional, and behavioral intervention support for students with high and low-incidence disabilities.
